האגודה הישראלית לחקר ההומור נוסדה בשנת 2009 על ידי ד"ר אריה סובר ומטרתה לקדם את חקר ההומור בישראל ובעולם. רבים מחברי האגודה הם אנשי אקדמיה מאוניברסיטאות ומכללות מתחומי ידע מגוונים כגון: פסיכולוגיה, סוציולוגיה, אנתרופולוגיה, פילוסופיה, פולקלור, ספרות, לשון, חינוך, תאטרון, תקשורת ורפואה. בנוסף חברים באגודה אנשי מקצוע מתחומים שונים: ליצנים רפואיים, מנחי סדנאות הומור וצחוק, מטפלים בהומור ואחרים המתעניינים בנושא.

האגודה מוציאה לאור שני כתבי עת אלקטרוניים שפיטים:
הומור מקוון: כתב עת מדעי לחקר ההומור.
The Israeli Journal of Humor Research: An International Journal

The Israeli society for humor studies was founded in 2009 by Dr. Arie Sover and is dedicated to the advancement of humor research In Israel and abroad. Many of the Society's members are university and college professors from different disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, folklore, linguistics, education, theatre, communication and medicine. The Society includes as well professionals in the fields such as medical clowning, humor workshops guides, humor therapists and others interested in the topics.

The society publishes two refereed e. journals:
Humor Mekuvvan: A Research Journal in Humor Studies.
